In January of 2005, Rascal Flatts topped the country music charts with the song Bless the
Broken Road
. Being a romantic, this song instantaneously became a favorite of mine. The first verse of the song says this;
I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you
I have spent my entire life striving to draw near to God, and I have also spent a good portion of that life searching for the man that this song speaks of. There have been several significant others in my life, each of whom I have thought might be the one. Each of these men has taught me not only something about what true love really is but also about faith and what God intends love to be. None of these men are the one God has destined to be my life’s partner. Many of you have followed a similar path, constantly searching for the one person who will love you beyond reason, and many of you, just as I have, have searched in vain. The search is over, for each of us, can at this moment, come face-to-face with our perfect mate. The name of that person is Jesus.
Ladies: We are searching for the man who will be able to read our hearts desires without our having to say a word. *Read: Psalms 139:1-4. A man who will be faithful. A man who will be strong in our weakness. A man who will wine and dine us, with all of the romance that we desire. Jesus is that man. Do you know the thrill of a love interest chasing after your heart and your attention? Jesus is that man. He has been attempting to woo you from the beginning, before you were even born. *Read: Psalms 139:13-16. Jesus will fulfill the longing and desires in your heart, if only you will open it to him.
2 Corinthians 11:2 speaks of us as the brides of Christ. If you are searching, as I have been, for the person who will fulfill all of your wants and needs, I ask you to look no farther than up. You will find the truth of His love for you in the verses I have mentioned and in countless others throughout the Bible. In closing I ask you to read the above verse of the song Bless the broken road and to listen to the song if possible, and to this time think of Christ as the true love you are searching for. Remember the importance is not how many times you have gotten lost in life, what matters is that each time you were found.
May God Bless you
